Homemade Suet Cakes for our Back Yard Birds. This is really my first time to make homemade suet cakes. But I knew the ones I had purchased from a big box store was not getting eaten.
I used the follow ingredients: 16 cups of birdseed included Sunflowers, millet, peanuts, freeze dried worms, sunflower chips, shelled peanuts, chopped tree nuts, Bark Butter Bits, cherries, cranberries and calcium. 2 1/2 cups of peanut butter 2 pounds of lard 2 store bought suet cakes Made up a total of 14 cakes.
This is very economical to do and your birds will appreciate your efforts. I will say it doesn't take very long. My next diy will be a seed cylinder.
